The art deco styling of the Empire State Building inspired my interpretation of this oft-photographed edifice. My motto: "Always look up."

This is not hand-tinted; it's a "true" false-color IR photograph, with IR, red and green images mapped into visible colors, in much the same manner as Ektachrome Infrared film.

Although both these photos have a faintly unreal quality about them, I assure you they are entirely natural. Light and color may have lent them other-wordly qualities, but my goal was to photograph and print them as I saw them, and I succeeded admirably. Anyway, it was impossible to resist Ben & Jerry's humor.
Palm in Conservatory

Cream and Sugar

click here to see larger versions of all the photographs click here to see larger versions of all the photographs I acknowledge, these two photographs look a lot more than faintly unreal. They're not. The quality of the light is just as I found it. The interior of the Convention Centre is illuminated by sunlight streaming through multi-colored glass panels. At 1 AM, the Palace is mostly lit by interior lamps.
