This lighthouse is reputed to be the most-photographed in the world, but the beacon's reflection in the twilight waves has never been rendered this finely. Lake Shasta and Mount Lassen, CA ~ 1991

An extraordinarily clear day at Lake Shasta, when the water levels were extraordinarily low, revealed glowing orange, brown, and tan bands on the banks of the reservoir. The water reflected a near-indigo sky in contrast with dusty cyan light near the horizon, whose color suffuses Mount Lassen in the distance. Green forest completes the pallete of rich colors in this photograph.
